It was a fairly relaxed night and everybody had fun which made blagging a set of covers with minimum practice an enjoyable (if a little shaky) experience. The "Half-Time Circus" set was as follows:

"Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran, "I Can't Explain" by The Who, "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads, "Seduced" by myself and "Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie.

Later on in the evening I took to the stage again to perform a few more numbers. Solo set was as follows:

"Communicating", "Cold Answers to Warm Questions", "Beer Money", "Mother Goose" by Jethro Tull and "Octopus" by Syd Barrett.

On a spooky note this was a very fitting song to end on as I discovered this afternoon that the legandary once-Pink Floyd frontman Syd had actually passed away this weekend. I feel honoured to have known his solo material well enough to have covered his song "Octopus" twice in one week. I cannot describe enough how influential Syd and the Floyd's music has been to me over the years.

Shine on youy crazy diamond........ R.I.P. A mission to blow away the pretence, predictability and mediocrity of popular music.

The Time Circus have prepared well. Bassist and acknowledged Paganini of the deep Richard Hankinson earned his craft in numerous local acts, wowing audiences with his blend of chops and sheer musical innovativeness. Lead guitarist Matt Collins is also a well known name on the local circuit having thrashed, burned and destroyed audiences with his mind blowing guitar pyrotechnics citing influences as varied as Ian Anderson and Nuno Bettencourt. Drummer and multi instrumentalist John.W.Honour provides the rhythmic lynchpin for the act, combining complex polyrhythmic conundrums with powerful song felt grooves. The icing on this pulsing, palpitating accumulation of rock is singer, rhythm guitarist and keyboard player Daniel.K.Morgan, a stalwart of the regional scene who regularly displays his prowess as a performer in select acoustic gigs.

The Time Circus is currently recording its debut album, which they will be touring in support of this summer. Some interesting drumming music and more excellent tunes from Val and John. Did two songs: my folk prog (or frog) epic "To Save a Draining Battery" and the ever popular "Beer Money". Crowd seemed moderately interested and then loads of guitarists went up and jammed for ages as usual until the neighbours complained. Played a short set; "Beer Money" and "We Are The Champions" by Queen. Got a pretty good response and had people singing along to both songs!! In fact I didn't really do much for that Queen one, I just sort of started people off and let the crowd do the rest! Wasn't even playing my guitar by the end I don't think! Anyway, great night, and all the other acts were fantastic as well. TFI Blues rounded the evening off with a predicatable but nevertheless brilliant set and a good time was had by all!

New Years Eve I headed to Swansea with my friends from work and had an amazing celebration! Lost count of how much beer I drank but I'm guessing it was quite a lot!

Haven't made any New Years resolutions... no point really! If I have stuff to achieve then I will get it done in my own time. I guess I could make more of an effort to be tidier or something? Dunno. E-mail me if you have any ideas on how I can improve my self!

Recently I have been mostly listening to "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull, "Sonic Temple" by The Cult, "Lions" by The Black Crowes, "Peter Gabriel 2" and "4" by Peter Gabriel, "Leaders of the Free World" by Elbow, "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" by Genesis, "Close to the Edge" by Yes, "Larks' Toungues in Aspic" by King Crimson, "Brighten the Corners" by Pavement, "More Songs About Buildings and Food" by Talking Heads, "Antics" by Interpol and "Marchin' Already" by Ocean Colour Scene.

I have also been listening to a lot of acoustic artists on MySpace! Has been fairly busy at work but uneventful on the whole.

Have purchased some superb new albums... "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull (who I am off to see in March) and "Camel" by Camel, a superb and often unheard of guitar-driven proggresive rock band. Both albums have been repeatedly played over and over again since I bought them. Amazing! Would highly recommend both!

Had my first proper night out in town in ages last night. Safe to say I am not feeling 100% today! HAHA! Still, its gotta be done. Had a great time. I will most definitely be enjoying the new late opening hours in town now anyway!

This week I have been mostly listening to "Camel" by Camel, "Welcome to the North" by The Music, "Out of Exile" by Audioslave, "The southern Harmony and Musical Companion" by the Black Crowes, "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull, "Unknown Pleasures" by Joy Division, "Brighten the Corners" by Pavement, "Halcyon Daze" (Best of) Procol Harum, "Surfer Rosa" and "Come on Pilgrim" by Pixies and "Hatful of Hollow" by the Smiths.

Lark's Toungues

Thanks to everybody who came along to see My & My Girl in Theatre Elli this week. It's gonna be so great. Tickets are now on sale from Theatre Elli or you can buy them off me if you like!

This week I have been mostly listening to "Give 'Em Enough Rope" by The Clash, "Reload" by Metallica, "Amorica" by The Black Crowes, "The Village Green Preservation Society" by The Kinks, "Roger the Engineer" by The Yardbirds, The Best of Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing", The Best of Ocean Colour Scene "Songs for the Front Row", "Agents of Fortune" by The Blue Öyster Cult, "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin, "Grace" by Jeff Buckley, The Undertones singles collection "True Confessions", "Exile on Main Street" and "Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus" by The Rolling Stones, "The Man Who Sold the World" by David Bowie, "MACHINA: The Machines of God" by Smashing Pumpkins and "More Songs About Buildings and Food" by Talking Heads..........

...... Yes I have been listening to a lot of music lately! Two main reasons. One is the rehearsing! And the other is because I've had no dosh to go out properly after buying my new computer! Haha! Still, both have been worth it!

Oh something else cool that happened this week is that I e-mailed the comedian Richard Herring (off Fist of Fun, This Morning with Richard Not Judy etc) to say how funny those shows still are today and I got a reply saying thanks!! HAHA! How cool is that!?

See you soon folks!

A gentle start to the week

After a pretty crappy week last week (Thursday I got locked out til 1am and things just got worse as the week progressed...!) this week has got off to a pleasant start. Monday was chilled out in work. Tuesday/Wednesday I was away on a training course (which generally involves meeting new people and having a laugh really!) and now today I have the day off work to just chill out.

Drama rehearsals are getting really cool - I think everybody is starting to feel the buzz now that it feels a bit more real. Posters are up around town, the cast have started acting out scenes without the use of scripts (I still need it for one or two bits!! arrg!) and the whole thing seems to be coming together a bit more. Very exciting stuff! The schedule for rehearsals has, as predicted, become a bit more intense now and its up to everybody to pull their weight. I'm just giving it my all now!

This week I have mostly been listening to 'Blur' by Blur, 'Counterparts' & '2112' by Rush, 'Employment' by the Kaiser Chiefs, 'A-sides' by Soundgarden, 'Hergest Ridge' by Mike Oldfield, 'Remasters' by Led Zeppelin, 'One by One' by foo Fighters and 'Operation: Mindcrime' by Queensryche.

You can drink your weak lemon drink now, or you can save it until later

Has been a fairly normal sort of week. Still can't believe how lucky I was to have witnessed the genius that is Roy Harper at work. The working week has been OK, no major problems to report.

Have been watching a 90s comedy programme 'Fist of Fun' that I downloaded off a friend. I remember seeing it on TV but I probably didn't get half the jokes back then. Absolutely bloody hilarious. Wander what Lee & Herring are up to these days anyway? Anybody know? Not seen them on TV in years.

This week I have been mostly listening to "Stormcock" by Roy Harper, "Rage Against the Machine" by RATM and a random assortment of mp3s on my computer. My new PC has such a big hard drive (250GB woohoo!) that I can potentialy store more music than I will ever be able to listen to in my lifetime!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog!
